Infantry (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}), crowned Singapore Horse of the Year last month, makes his 2018 debut in the S$200,000 Fortune Bowl S., the featured event on a rare Saturday of racing at Kranji Racecourse.
Trainer by Alwin Tan, the 5-year-old was victorious in last year's Singapore Derby (2000m) last July and in the Kranji Mile in October despite suffering a cut to his near-hind fetlock in the race. He makes his first start since finishing fifth to Gilt Complex (NZ) (Gold Centre {Aus}) in the Singapore Gold Cup (2200m) last November and has trialled well recently under big-race rider Ryan Curatolo.
Clarton Super (Aus) (Swift Alliance {Aus}) races first-up for better than three months, having most recently registered a $51 (9-1) upset over the reopposing Fortune Winner (Arg) (Include) in the EW Barker Trophy over Saturday's course and distance Nov. 11.
Also in the field are Well Done (NZ) (Falkirk {NZ}), the 2016 Singapore Derby hero; Forever Young (Run Away and Hide), who defeated Jupiter Gold (Aus) (Congrats) in last year's Singapore Guineas (1600m); and Nova Strike (NZ) (Red Giant), third to Infantry in the Derby and later the clear-cut winner of the Colonial Chief S. (1700m AWT).
