A charity auction of nominations held on Friday at Arqana's Deauville sales complex raised €285,500 in aid of Au Dela des Pistes, France's racehorse aftercare initiative founded by The Aga Khan Studs and Darley.
Fourteen nominations were auctioned, with a season to Siyouni (Fr) topping the sale at €60,000 and bought by MAB Agency. A breeding to Dawn Approach (Ire) brought €32,000 from the Aga Khan Studs, while Haras des Capucines bought a season to Intello (Ger) for €26,000.
Proceeds will benefit Au Dela des Pistes's initiatives, including organising events to raise awareness of the versatility of the Thoroughbred; accrediting re-training facilities in France; organising equestrian competitions for ex-racehorses; and creating a fund for vulnerable racehorses.
Aliette Forien, president of Au Dela des Pistes, said “Once again the bloodstock industry has shown a united front for this cause that affects us all. I would like to sincerely thank all the studs and stallion owners that gave nominations to this auction but also the buyers and under bidders that all helped to make this auction a huge success. The funds raised will allow Au Dela des Pistes to achieve their objectives set for 2017. This is both encouraging and exciting for the future of this project.”
