Skiffle A Likely Oaks Addition

Skiffle | Racing Post

Godolphin appear likely to supplement their recent stakes winning filly Skiffle (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) for the G1 Investec Epsom Oaks in ten days time. The twice raced filly showed up well on her debut for Charlie Appleby when third in an Ascot maiden May 6 before stepping up to win the Listed Veolia Height Of Fashion S. at Goodwood ten days later. Snow Fairy (Ire) (Intikhab) won the same Goodwood race before victory in the Oaks and subsequent international stardom and John Ferguson, Godolphin chief executive commented, “It would be wrong of us not to consider the possibility of supplementing as she has thrived over the last month. She won well at Goodwood, a legitimate Oaks trial, and although the first thought was the G2 Ribblesdale S. at Royal Ascot, recent events over the weekend suggested the Oaks might be a little more open than we thought.” Ferguson was most likely referring to the fact that ante post Oaks favourite Minding (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) got beaten in the G1 Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas and returned with a minor facial injury which has cast a slight doubt over her Oaks participation. Skiffle also has an entry in the G1 Darley Irish Oaks and Ferguson added, “The ultimate decision to supplement will be made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed over the weekend.”
