G1 Golden Slipper heroine She Will Reign (Aus) (Manhattan Rain {Aus}), missing since an 11th-place run in The Everest on Oct. 14, resumed with a length victory in the Listed Inglis Sprint at Warwick Farm (video) on Saturday. The short-priced favourite and Gary Portelli trainee was hustled up the inside to contest the pace with GSW Diamond Tathagata (Aus) (Hinchinbrook {Aus}) and stuck her nose in front by the end of the first quarter mile. Still well in hand with 300 metres to go, the Darby Racing colourbearer proved far too classy, drawing away at will, as Acqume (Aus) (Sepoy {Aus}) rallied for second in the 1100-metre event. The final time was 1:03.63.
“She only had one trial, so missed a bit of work and needed the run, so it was just the perfect pipe-opener for her,” said Scott Darby to Inglis. “But first it's off to the Classic Sale. Look out sale, look out.”
Godolphin's Kementari (Aus) (Lonhro {Aus}) was also successful on the day, taking the G3 Eskimo Prince S. going 1200 metres there later on the card. The near-black colt was last seen in action when bridesmaid in the G1 Caulfield Guineas, the same day as The Everest.
