Returning to the Northern Horse Park in Hokkaido for the second day of the Japan Racing Horse Association select sale, popular Japanese owner Takaya Shimakawa paid ᆬ190 million (about $1,862,746) for a flashy Deep Impact (Jpn) colt who is the first foal out of French GI winner Lily of the Valley (Fr) (Galileo {Ire]). The colt with four white legs and a white stripe was consigned by Teruya Yoshida's Shadai Farm. “I wanted to buy the dam, but Mr. Yoshida didn't want to sell her, so I bought the foal instead,” said Shimakawa, adding with a playful laugh that the price was “unreasonably expensive.”
