Snitzel Sets Prizemoney Record

Snitzel | Arrowfield

Arrowfield's Snitzel (Aus), helped by four stakes wins by his progeny on Saturday, has set a new record for prizemoney earnings by an Australian sire in a season. Progeny of the 14-year-old have bankrolled A$13.8-million with 11 weeks remaining in the season. That surpasses the previous record of A$12.9-million set by Street Cry (Ire) in 2015/16, but historical figures have not been adjusted for inflation. Snitzel, the leading general sire and 2- and 3-year-old sire in Australia, has sired 24 winners of 29 domestic stakes races this season, including Saturday's G1 Doomben 10,000 victor Redzel (Aus). He was also on Saturday responsible for a pair of juvenile stakes winners in G2 Champagne Classic winner Tangled (Aus) and Listed Woodlands S. winner, 'TDN Rising Star' Debonairly (Aus). Vienna Miss (Aus) later in the afternoon won the Listed Adelaide Guineas.
