So Mi Dar Out Of Investec Oaks

So Mi Dar (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), among the favourites for the G1 Investec Oaks after winning York's G3 Musidora S. by four lengths May 11, has been ruled out of that June 3 Epsom contest after pulling out lame on Monday.

“It was one of those mornings you get,” said trainer John Gosden. “She came out of the race great, but this morning she was lame on her left hind. I told [owners] Andrew and Madeleine [Lloyd-Webber] and got the vet in, and she is not right. We would call it a one to two out of five to grade it. She may well come right in 10 days, but you cannot go to any major race thinking you can walk for 10 days and suddenly be ready.”

Gosden said So Mi Dar, a daughter of the four-time Group 1 winner Dar Re Mi (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}), would “possibly” re-route to the G1 Darley Irish Oaks July 16.

“The horse comes first and luckily I'm training for proper owner-breeders who understand the game,” he added. “It's a real disappointment. She's a gorgeous filly, she won in great style and we were all looking forward to the Oaks. But it's not a little bruise in the foot–it's a little higher up and it's just going to take a little time to come right.”

So Mi Dar is unbeaten in three starts. She broke her maiden at Windsor in October and took Epsom's Investec Derby Trial Apr. 20 prior to her Musidora score.
