So You Think Inducted Into NZ HOF

So You Think | Coolmore

Ten-time worldwide Group 1 winner So You Think (NZ) (High Chaparral {Ire}) and blue hen broodmare Eight Carat (GB) (Pieces Of Eight {GB}) were among the inductees into New Zealand's Racing Hall of Fame Friday.

So You Think, whose first 2-year-olds hit the track this year in both hemispheres, won two Cox Plates and three other Group 1s through his first two seasons Down Under before being bought by the Coolmore partners and transferred to Ireland, where he was trained by Aidan O'Brien to win five additional Group 1s.

Eight Carat is one of New Zealand's most legendary broodmares, having produced five Group 1 winners including Australian champion Octagonal (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}), now best known as the sire of champion sire Lonhro (Aus). Eight Carat is also the dam of sire Kaapstad (NZ) (Sir Tristram {Ire}), and her other direct descendants include sires Danewin (Aus), Commands (Aus), Don Eduardo (NZ), Viscount (Aus) and numerous other Group 1 winners and producers.

Also inducted into the Hall Of Fame were G1 Melbourne Cup winner Ethereal (NZ) (Rhythm), champion Daryl's Joy (NZ) (Stunning {GB}) and human inductees Seton Otway, a legendary Waikato breeder; rider Shane Dye, trainer Laurie Laxon, breeder Gary Chittick and writer John Costello.
