Charlie Appleby's G1 Prix Saint-Alary winner Sobetsu (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) will swerve the G1 Investec Oaks at Epsom June 2 in favour of a crack at the G1 Prix de Diane at Chantilly on June 18. In the immediate aftermath of the 'TDN Rising Star's Group 1 win connections were keen to stress wherever the ground was softest she would end up. However, talks have already taken place with Sheikh Mohammed and the filly has been ruled out of Epsom.
“John [Ferguson, Godolphin chief executive and racing manager] and I have discussed it with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, and the final decision is that we target the Prix de Diane,” Appleby told www.godolphin.com. “The ground at Deauville, which in my opinion was good to soft, was a key factor in her success, and she is more likely to get the ground she likes at Chantilly than at Epsom.”
