Fox Hill Farm's undefeated Songbird (Medaglia d'Oro) worked six furlongs in 1:14.40 (2/6) at Santa Anita Thursday in preparation for her seasonal bow in Arcadia's GII Las Virgenes S. Feb. 6. Santa Anita clockers caught her in splits of :26, :38.20, :50.20 and 1:02.40 with a seven-furlong gallop out in 1:27.80.
“It was real good,” Hall of Fame conditioner Jerry Hollendorfer commented. “It was just what we wanted today.”
An impressive winner her career bow at Del Mar July 26, the “TDN Rising Star” stamped herself as the leader of her division with subsequent victories in the GI Del Mar Debutante S. Sept. 5, GI Chandelier S. Sept. 26 and GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Oct. 31. Songbird will soon add the Eclipse Award for champion juvenile filly to her illustrious resume Saturday.
