A field of nine up-and-comers seek their respective first stakes victories in Saturday's GIII Robert B. Lewis S. at Santa Anita. Shivermetimbers (Shanghai Bobby) was third behind still-unbeaten Grade I-winning 'TDN Rising Star' McKinzie (Street Sense) in a seven-furlong local maiden special weight in October, and broke through by a head over Peace (Violence) going a Del Mar mile Nov. 23. He was fourth behind McKinzie in the GIII Sham S. here Jan. 6. Peace, meanwhile, came back to defeat the well-regarded but still diploma-less Regulate (Quality Road) by 3/4 of a length here Dec. 30. The Bob Baffert-trained Regulate was a well-beaten sixth after chasing a hot pace Jan. 19, and second timer Pepe Tono (Bodemeister) mowed them all down that day from a mile out of it at 11-1. Blame the Rider (Jimmy Creed) was third. Lombo (Graydar) also exits maiden company, having donned cap and gown by a convincing 3 1/2 lengths after attending a strong pace sprinting here Jan. 20. Ayacara (GB) (Violence) broke his maiden on the Del Mar dirt over the summer. Second in Golden Gate's Gold Rush S. Dec. 2 on Tapeta, he adds blinkers off a sixth-place run in the grassy Eddie Logan S. here Dec. 29. Inscom (Distorted Humor), the $850,000 second-priciest lot at last year's Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale, showed little on the Los Al dirt first out, but improved markedly after switching to sod. He was second by a head as the favorite last time in the Logan. Dark Vader (Tale of Ekati), last seen breaking through in December, rounds out the field.
