Southern France Supplemented for Irish St. Leger

Southern France | Racing Post

Southern France (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) has been supplemented for the G1 Comer Group International Irish St. Leger at The Curragh. The 4-year-old is set to have his last race in the care of Aidan O'Brien on Sunday, after being sold by Coolmore to Australian connections with the aim of going for the Melbourne Cup. Third in last year's G1 St Leger at Doncaster, Southern France won the G3 Irish St. Leger Trial S. at The Curragh last month.

O'Brien also has the last two winners of Britain's oldest Classic, Kew Gardens and Capri among his five on the list of 18 horses remaining at the confirmation stage as he seeks to win this race for a sixth time.

Other notable entrants at this stage are 2018 G1 Irish Derby hero Latrobe (Ire) (Camelot {GB}) for O'Brien's son Joseph and G1 Melbourne Cup victor Cross Counter (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) from the Charlie Appleby yard for Godolphin.
