A grey son of Special Week (Jpn) (lot 846) took top billing on day three of the Hokkaido Summer Yearling Sale when hammered down to Tetsuhide Kunimoto for ¥21,600,000 (US$215,329). The April foal is out of Mischief (Jpn) (Kurofune), who has already produced a pair of winners.
Kunimoto also struck for one of the session's joint second-highest priced lots, a colt by Admire Moon (Jpn) (lot 694) at ¥17,280,000 (US$172,263). Another Darley Japan resident, Pyro, was responsible for the other to hit that price tag, lot 712. That one, a colt whose family traces back to dual Japanese Classic winner Vega (Jpn) (Tony Bin {Ire}) under the third dam, was bought by Hironobu Miyahara.
