Speightstown Colt Hammered Down for $550K

A colt consigned by John Brocklebank's BC3 Thoroughbreds is off to Japan after Katsuhiko Hirai went to $550,000 for the son of Speightstown–Motel Lass (Bates Motel). A half-brother to the stakes-winning Stormin' Lyon (Stormin Fever), the bay colt was a $335,000 yearling purchase at the Fasig-Tipton July sale last summer. The April foal hails from the extended female family of solid Japanese sire French Deputy (Deputy Minister) as well as MGSW Old Fashioned (Unbridled's Song).
