Although none the worse for her G1 Cox Pate demolition job, Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}) is to enjoy a short break from training with a return to racecourse action to be delayed until 2017. Winx had an option of targeting the G1 Emirates S. Nov. 5, but that plan has been shelved.
Reporting on his superstar's well-being and outlining a loose plan, Chris Waller said, “She has pulled up well from the race with the exception of a minor abrasion to her hind leg. At this stage, targets in the autumn are yet to be discussed, but the most logical races will make up her autumn campaign.”
Such is the global nature of racing these days that European racing fans in particular would love to see Winx come to the Northern Hemisphere and take on the best of Europe, similar to Black Caviar (Aus) (Bel Esprit {Aus}) in 2012 and Waller hinted at such a possibility.
“Other options such as travelling overseas and returning for a third Cox Plate in 2017 are also items the owners and I will discuss in the near future,” he added.
