Keeneland Association and Cross Gate Gallery of Lexington will conduct the fifth annual Sporting Art Auction Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. in the Keeneland Sales Pavilion.
The 2017 collection features 175 high-quality lots representing fine sporting art, American paintings, and sculpture from celebrated masters as well as talented new artists. The Sporting Art Auction catalog is available online.
Among the notable pieces cataloged this year are: Heading Home, a signed 30″ x 40″ oil on canvas by Andre Pater; A Morning's Work, Newmarket Heath, a signed 15 1/4″ x 28 1/4″ oil on canvas by Sir Alfred Munnings; and Jocks Room Colors, a stunning 40″ x 30″ oil on canvas by LeRoy Neiman.
Keeneland's portion of the auction proceeds will benefit its non-profit initiatives including support through the Keeneland Foundation. The Sporting Art collection is open to the public for viewing in the Keeneland Sales Pavilion from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily. Doors will open at noon Sunday.
