Brittlyn Stables' Forevamo (Uncle Mo), most recently second after a wide run in a Jan. 18 Fair Grounds allowance, continues to do well ahead of his scheduled start in Saturday's GII Veterans Ford Risen Star S., according to trainer Al Stall, Jr. The colt breezed four furlongs in :48 flat [2/63] at the Fair Grounds Sunday.
“I think it's time to take a chance with him,” Stall said. “We have a great post [5] and there are some speed horses there, which helps us. I think we've seen enough progress from two to three to run in the race and his last breeze was really good.”
Forevamo broke his maiden at third asking going one mile in the slop in the Jean Lafitte S. at Delta Downs Oct. 24. The bay was sixth in the GIII Delta Jackpot prior to his recent effort in New Orleans.
Stall will saddle another graded stakes one race earlier on the Saturday card when Adele Dilschneider and Claiborne Farm's Departing (War Front) goes to post in the GIII Fair Grounds H. The 6-year-old multiple graded stakes winner will return to turf after recently running second in the Fifth Season S. on dirt at Oaklawn Jan. 16.
“We'd like to keep him around as long as possible and space his races throughout the year,” Stall said. “We'll pick out some comfortable spots and hopefully can get his career earnings over $2 million. His soundness is what's best about him. He still looks good and definitely gets into his work in the morning.”
