There will be no changes to the Shadwell Roster at Nunnery Stud for 2018 with flagship stallion Muhaarar (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) remaining at a fee of £30,000. The champion sprinter of 2015 has his first crop of foals on the ground this year and was in the unusual position of having his first foal sell at Goffs London Sale in June alongside her dam Baldovina (GB) (Tale Of The Cat) when the pair fetched £300,000 from Sackville Donald.
“It was always the plan for Muhaarar to stand his first three seasons at a fee of £30,000 in order to give breeders equal opportunity. That has always been Shadwell's policy,” said Shadwell Stud Director Richard Lancaster. “I still believe £30,000 represents outstanding value. Not only does he have the looks to match his exemplary race record, he's now producing exceptional foals. I have seen numerous foals this year and they are good-bodied, strong foals, but the common trait among all of them is balance and athleticism. On the back of those first foals and his competitive fee, there have already been plenty of applications for next year and we envisage him being full in the next couple of weeks.”
Fellow stallions Mukhadram (GB) (Shamardal) and Nayef (Gulch) will also stand for the unchanged fees of £7,000 and £5,000, respectively. The G1 Coral Eclipse winner Mukhadram had his first yearlings for sale in the autumn and they were well received, selling for up to £200,000 with a further seven making sums in excess of £50,000. Nayef meanwhile continues to prove himself a consistent source of top-class performers, headed by this year's G1 Prix Royal-Oak winner Ice Breeze (GB).
