Bet down late to 8-5 favoritism, the dark bay was off a beat slowly before rushing up to stalk second through splits of :23.01 and :46.51. Moving between pacesetter Baseline (Bellamy Road) and Adulation (To Honor and Serve) on the far turn, Thirst for Victory gamely repelled the bid of the latter in deep stretch and splashed home three lengths to the good in 1:26.26. The winner's stakes-placed dam is a half to MGSW/GISP Papa Clem (Smart Strike), while his second dam is GISW Miss Houdini (Belong to Me), victress of the 2002 GI Del Mar Debutante S, and third dam Magical Maiden (Lord Avie) was a MGISW as well.
