Stonestreet Runner Wins In Australia

Barbara Banke's U.S.-based Stonestreet Farm enjoyed a winner at Canterbury in Australia on Wednesday when the 2-year-old filly Seaglass (Aus) (Sebring {Aus}) won as the joint favourite at second asking. A keen third on the fence through the opening stages under Hugh Bowman, the chestnut moved three-wide for running room as they came off the turn. Drawing even with All Sassitude passing the 200 metre mark, Seaglass was given a strong challenge by that rival but got her head in front on the wire for trainers Peter and Paul Snowden (video).

Bred by Burnewang North Pastaoral in Victoria, Seaglass was a A$470,000 purchase by Stonestreet at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, and is the second foal and first winner out of the Group 3-placed Metonymy (Aus) (Hotel Grand {Aus}).
