Bidding on behalf of Three Chimneys Farm, agent Jacob West went to $2.8 million to acquire 2014 GI Breeders' Cup Distaff heroine Stopchargingmaria (5, Tale of the Cat–Exotic Bloom, by Montbrook) from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales, agent for the Courtelis's Town and Country Farms. It was the second trip through the ring for Stopchargingmaria, who was led out unsold on a bid of $3.15 million at this event in 2014 before being acquired privately by Town and Country. Following her sale, she won the GIII DuPont Distaff S. and the GIII Shuvee H. before her signature success in last year's Distaff. Kept in training this year, she made two starts, including a near-miss second in the GI Madison S. at Keeneland. Offered as a broodmare prospect only, Stopchargingmaria retires with wins in half her 18 career starts and earnings of $3,014,000.
