The inaugural Arqana October Yearling Sale Criterium has 340 entries remaining following the second qualification stage. The mile race for 2-year-olds is open to graduates of last year's Arqana October Yearling Sale, and will take place on Sept. 30 at Chantilly, the day before the G1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. The purse is a guaranteed minimum of €250,000. The next confirmation stage, with a €250 fee, is on May 31.
Arqana President Eric Hoyeau said, “the concept of the auction race is very popular in Britain and Ireland but less used in France. We are therefore very satisfied with the number of owners that have signed up for this new initiative and have chosen to take the opportunity to have a runner during Arc weekend in a race that is worth a lot of money. We welcome the promotion of this new race which has already strengthened the reputation of the October Yearling Sale.”
