The £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus Scheme has drawn 381 entries in its inaugural year. The bonus awards graduates of Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale a £25,000 bonus should they win one of approximately 300 qualifying maiden and novice 2-year-old races in Britain and Ireland. The entries represent 82% of the lots offered at Book 1 last year.
“We always felt that the £25,000 October Book 1 Bonus would capture the imagination of owners and trainers and the number of entries is a fantastic endorsement of the new scheme,” said Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony. “These October Book 1 2-year-olds stand to win unprecedented amounts of prize money for winning their maidens–as much as £69,850 in the case of the Convivial Maiden at York, which has been won by an October Book 1 purchase in both 2014 and 2015.”
