Following a sustained on-line bidding battle the 3-year-old Aga Khan bred colt Vedevani (Fr) (Dubawi {Ire}) has sold for €800,000 through Arqana's online bidding portal Arqanaonline. The successful bidder was Gérard Larrieu's Chantilly Bloodstock Agency on behalf of Khalifa Al Kuwari following a 25-hour long bidding process that saw eight individual bidders place a total of 47 bids on the colt who was last seen making much of the running in the G1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last Sunday. The 'Extra Time', which guarantees all bidders a minimum of 20 minutes to place a bid, was activated no less than 23 times with the sale ultimately closing an hour and a half later than initially scheduled. Arqana president Eric Hoyeau commented, “My deepest thanks go to all the professionals who registered and had a go at this sale of a new kind, particularly the underbidders from Qatar and Scandinavia who showed a lot of stamina.” Hoyeau continued, “This is a most satisfactory achievement for Arqanaonline, a ground-breaking venture in which we have invested a lot of time and effort. Creativity is in Arqana's DNA and it is very rewarding to see an innovation being fully endorsed by our clients.”
