A minor ailment forced Sunday Rules (Tribal Rule) out of Saturday's GII Santa Monica S., but the 5-year-old mare is expected to go postward in next Saturday's Sunshine Millions F/M Turf Sprint. Sunday Rules, who was not entered in the Santa Monica after suffering a skin infection in a hock, won an allowance over the Del Mar lawn in her only previous turf appearance Nov. 22.
“The forecast is calling for rain but Mike Smith, who rode her when she won the Del Mar turf sprint, thought that with her stride, she'd love Santa Anita's turf course even more, so that's what we have her pointed for,” commented trainer Phil D'Amato.
