Trainer Mark Hennig yesterday filed a formal protest into the result of Sunday's GIII Suwannee River H. at Gulfstream Park. The winner, Green Girl (Fr) (Lord of Men {GB}), tossed jockey Rene Douglas during the post parade of the race and was loose for eight minutes. She was finally corralled by the outriders and was allowed to compete, but Gulfstream Park's rules mirror those of The Jockey Club, which state that “the horse must carry its assigned weight from paddock to post and from post to finish.” Hennig saddled La Dolce Vita (Quiet American) to a second-place finish in the Suwanee River. A decision on the matter is expected to be announced by Friday.
