Hip 135, who showed off his powerful stride with a :10 flat breeze Monday, proved popular as expected come sale day Wednesday as Eaton Sales's Reiley McDonald stretched to $1.45 million to pick up the bay on behalf of Coolmore's M. V. Magnier. A half-brother to GSW 'TDN Rising Star' Ocho Ocho Ocho (Street Sense) and GSP Private Ensign (A.P. Indy), the bay colt was acquired in utero for $700,000 at KEENOV '14 by Phyllis Wyeth's Chadds Ford Stable. He was scooped up by consignor Hartley/De Renzo for $350,000 last year at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga. Hip 135 hails from a strong Phipps family. His third dam is Personal Ensign.
