The 12th annual Sporting Art Collection, presented by Keeneland in partnership with the Cross Gate Gallery of Lexington, will take place Friday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. ET in the Keeneland Sales Pavilion. A total of 203 lots will be offered showcasing a wide range of fine Sporting art and American painting as well as sculptures by masters of their genre. Among the offering are works by Sir Alfred J. Munnings, the official 2024 Breeders' Cup program-cover artwork by Charles Church, a group of quality LeRoy Neimans, New Western paintings...
Cross Gate Gallery Charity Challenge online auction which concluded May 9 raised over $100,00 to benefit a charity of the buyer's choice. Although the majority serve the Central Kentucky region, donations were made to charities throughout the country. The sale was topped by Larry Wheeler's 'Kentucky River Palisades' and Peter Howell's 'Headed Home, Newmarket'. The artwork realized a combined total of $10,500, therefore contributing $5,250 to each buyer's charity. Cross Gate Gallery will present a retrospective of more than 20 pieces by artist Peter Howell entitled, "Forty Years in Saratoga" as part of its annual exhibition at Fasig-Tipton's Humphrey S. Finney sales pavilion in Saratoga Springs, NY. The British-born artist, a former trainer and jumps jockey, first starting exhibiting in Saratoga in 1978.
