Los Angeles Wildfires: Santa Anita Safe, Nearby Communities Devastated

Wildfires propelled by unusually strong Santa Ana winds swept across Los Angeles Tuesday and into the night, breaking out near several densely populated neighborhoods including Altadena, Pasadena and portions of the San Gabriel Mountains that serve as a backdrop to Santa Anita Park. Santa Anita's 16-day Autumn Meet concluded Sunday, Oct. 27 with Juan Hernandez on top of the jockey's standings, Bob Baffert winning the trainer's title and Harris Farms leading all owners in wins. For Hernandez, a 32-year-old native of Veracruz, Mexico, this was his seventh riding title at Santa Anita.
