A colt by Tale of the Cat topped Tuesday's Texas 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale at Lone Star Park with a winning bid of $120,000 from Carrol Castille of Louisiana's Whispering Oaks Farm. The dark bay was consigned by Gerwyn “Taffy” Jones's Benchmark Training Center as hip 49, and covered an eighth in :10 2/5 during Monday's rescheduled under-tack preview. Named Dicken's Tale, the Apr. 11 foal was acquired for $27,000 by Keene Thoroughbreds at last year's Keeneland September sale. He is out of a half-sister to GI Blue Grass S. winner Bandini (Fusaichi Pegasus), and his third dam Hail Atlantis (Seattle Slew) annexed the GI Santa Anita Oaks before producing stakes winner and sire Stormy Atlantic (Storm Cat). Whispering Oaks bred Grade I winner Practical Joke (Into Mischief), who will contest Saturday's renewal of the Blue Grass. This was the second year the Texas Thoroughbred Association and Lone Star Park held its 2-year-old sale–Fasig-Tipton had previously managed the sale in partnership with those groups.
