Tapit Colt First to Seven Figures at Saratoga

Hip 34 | Horsephotos

After the first of his sire's offspring (hip 24) was led out unsold on a bid of $950,000, a partnership comprised of Eclipse Thoroughbreds, John Malone's Bridlewood Farm and Robert LaPenta went to $1.2 million to land hip 34, a Tapit colt out of 2006 GI Spinaway S. winner Appealing Zophie (Successful Appeal). The Mar. 28 foal was consigned by Craig and Holly Bandoroff's Denali Stud on behalf of Len Riggio's My Meadowview, who paid $1.1 million to acquire the colt's dam at the 2007 Fasig-Tipton November sale. The sire of champion Untapable and Classic winner Tonalist accounted for two of the three seven-figure transactions during last year's Saratoga sale.
