SILVER DUST (c, 2, Tapit–Filare l'Oro {SW & GSP, $185,100}, by Hard Spun) backed up a sneaky good debut with an impressive maiden score at Churchill. Off poorly in his career bow over track and trip Oct. 30, the $510,000 OBS March buy went wide around the turn kicked it into gear very late, finishing well to be fifth. Tracking along the inside from sixth as the 5-2 second choice here, the gray was held up in tight between rivals for the majority of the backstretch run. Patiently ridden while inching into contention around the turn, he tipped four deep at the top of the lane and kicked away strongly to score by three lengths in 1:36.66. Dilettante (Unbridled's Song) was second-best. The winner was a $270,000 KEESEP yearling who nearly doubled that price tag after breezing a quarter-mile in :21 2/5 at OBS March. He is the first foal out of a SW/GSP dam who's a half to MGSW Gouldings Green (Charismatic), while his second dam Elusive Gold (Strike the Gold) is a half to MGISW Stop Traffic (Cure the Blues), the dam of MGISW Cross Traffic (Unbridled's Song). Filare l'Oro has a yearling full-brother to the winner and was bred to Speightstown this term. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $36,540. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
