Tapit Filly Finishes Fast in Florida

Tapit | Gainesway

2nd-GP, $38,000, Msw, 3-10, 3yo, f, 5 1/2f, 1:05.16, ft.
+MY MISS TAPIT (f, 3, Tapit–Sindy With an S {GSW, $330,959}, by Broken Vow), backed down to even-money favoritism off a nondescript worktab, but other obvious credentials, didn't inspire much confidence in the opening stanzas, but woke up and ran to advanced billing late. Sluggish and out of it early, the $550,000 KEESEP pick-up began to make steady progress out wide into the home bend as Defy (Into Mischief) looked to run them off their feet and blow the race apart. My Miss Tapit continued her ominous advance into the home straight, and while the pacesetter put up all the fight she had left, the chalk powered past her decisively to post a 2 1/2-length victory. Defy remained well clear of the third finisher. According to Trakus data, the winner covered 29 ft. (almost 3 1/2 lengths) more than the runner-up. The winner's dam, a speedy sprinter who annexed the 2007 GIII Safely Kept S., is also responsible for full-siblings to the winner in I'll Wrap It Up, GSP, $201,517; and Rattataptap, GSP, $168,886. She has a 2-year-old colt named Rivington (To Honor and Serve), and was bred back to Tapit last season. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $22,800.
