Tapit Filly Scratch It A 12-1 Upset Winner On Debut At Saratoga

Scratch It | Sarah Andrew

4th-Saratoga, $100,000, Msw, 8-1, 2yo, f, 1 1/16mT, 1:45.83, fm, 1 1/4 lengths.
SCRATCH IT (f, 2, Tapit–Carolyn's Cat {MGSW, $307,415}, by Forestry), nearly the longest shot on the board at 12-1, was sharp from the middle of the gate and led the field into the first turn dogged throughout by Miss Picky (Uncle Mo). The two held a narrow advantage over a three-wide wall of challengers just behind as the opening half went in :51.04. Hugging the rail around the far turn, Scratch It got first jump into the stretch and kicked away with another gear as only Connect the Stars (Connect) was coming out of the pack. While that runner got up into second, the winner was already safely home 1 1/4 lengths in front on the line. Carolyn's Cat, who captured a pair of Grade III races in her own career, produced this runner's full-sister Mufajaah, GSW, $267,140, as her first foal and is also responsible for Aunt Kat (Uncle Mo), SP, $191,640. Scratch It was herself a $490,000 yearling at the Saratoga Sale one year ago for Atlantic Bloodstock. She has a yearling half-sister from the first crop of Horse of the Year Flightline and Carolyn's Cat put down a full-brother to Scratch It this year before returning to Tapit for 2026. Sales History: $490,000 Ylg '24 FTSAUG. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $55,000. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by FanDuel TV.
