Dr. Kendall Hansen's homebred Hansen (Tapit) was named champion 2-year-old colt to kick off the Eclipse Awards Monday night in Beverly Hills. The nearly white colt went 3-for-3 in 2011, including his win over Union Rags (Dixie Union) in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Sky Chai Racing co-owns Hansen. Despite anticipation of a close Eclipse race, Hansen won handily. He received 194 votes, compared to the 52 garnered by Union Rags (Dixie Union). Secret Circle (Eddington) and Overdriven (Tale of the Cat) got one vote apiece.
