Tattersalls has released the catalogues for Books 2 and 3 of its October Yearling Sale. Book 2, which takes place Oct. 9 to 11 and is represented this year by Group 1 winners Brando (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) and Jack Hobbs (GB) (Halling), includes the siblings to 159 stakes winners including Brando himself (lot 1036), Al Wukair (Ire) (Dream Ahead) (lot 602), Harbour Law (GB) (Lawman {Fr}) (lot 994) and Shakeel (Fr) (Dalakhani {Ire}) (lot 839). There are 103 progeny of stakes-winning mares catalogued. Thirty-six of the current top 40 active British and Irish sires are represented, with Kodiac (GB) leading numerically with 54 catalogued.
Among the Book 2 offerings are four yearlings from the Ballymacoll Stud Dispersal consigned by Corduff Stud. They are a Cacique (Ire) half-sister to G1 Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente (Ire) (lot 772); an Archipenko half-sister to a pair of stakes winners (lot 773); a Lope de Vega (Ire) colt out of a stakes winner (lot 770); and a colt by Sea The Moon (Ger) from the same family as the Lope de Vega colt (lot 771).
Book 3, which runs Oct. 12 to 14, sees a strong showing by top sires, with Dark Angel (Ire), Iffraaj (GB), Kodiac (GB), Nathaniel (Ire) and Pour Moi (Ire) having 43 catalogued between them.
Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said, “The outstanding quality of the catalogues for Books 2 and 3 of the October Yearling Sale reflects the unprecedented demand for places. As ever, buyers will find quality and diversity in abundance and the combination of greater numbers and racing at Newmarket on Oct. 13 has meant that Book 3 will be extended into the morning before Newmarket's Future Champions Day.”
