Tavistock Fee Unchanged

Sir Patrick Hogan and Tavistock | Cambridge Stud

Exciting young New Zealand sire Tavistock (NZ) will stand once again for NZ$65,000 in 2017. Tavistock headlines the Cambridge Stud roster, which also includes Power (GB) (up to NZ$12,500), Burgundy (NZ) (up to NZ$7,000) and Keeper (NZ) (down to NZ$5,000).

Tavistock, the sire of four Group 1 winners including Derby winners Tavago (NZ), Tarzino (NZ) and Werther (NZ), last year covered 194 mares, and Cambridge Studmaster Sir Patrick Hogan said his book will be restricted this year.

“He's had two or three hectic years,” Hogan said. “We had more than 300 applications to Tavistock last year and I had planned on restricting him to 160 mares. But then I can only blame myself for sending a few extra of my own mares to him than I should have, and a few shareholders wanted late services, and he got up to 194, so it got away on us a bit. This year, I'm putting it on record that I'm going to stay a lot stronger. At least, that's what I'm planning anyway.”
