Tepin (Bernstein), last year's American champion grass mare and GI Breeders' Cup Mile winner, has been given an entry in Goodwood's G1 Sussex S. over a mile July 27. The 5-year-old, who currently rides a six-race win streak and most recently won the GII Distaff Turf Mile at Churchill Downs May 7, is first targeting the G1 Queen Anne S. at Royal Ascot June 14.
“Tepin is very well,” said trainer Mark Casse. “She has a real big breeze coming this Saturday and how she works will tell us but right now, we are on schedule to come to Royal Ascot. I believe the travel is arranged for Saturday, June 6. She runs on the Tuesday so that will give her eight or nine days.
Casse added, “The Qatar Sussex S. at Goodwood is an exciting race and I always like to keep my options open. They asked me about the race and it is definitely something to think about.”
Also among the Sussex entries are this year's mile Classic winners Galileo Gold (GB) (Paco Boy {Ire}), The Gurkha (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), Awtaad (Ire) (Cape Cross {Ire}), Minding (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Jet Setting (Ire) (Fast Company {Ire}), as well as recent G1 Lockinge S. winner Belardo (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}).
