Warren Williamson's homebred 'TDN Rising Star' Texas Ryano (Curlin–Blending Element {Ire}, by Great Commotion) has been retired from racing and will take up stud duties at Ballena Vista Farm in Ramona, California.
The 6-year-old won last year's GII Hollywood Turf Cup and was second in the GII John Henry Turf Championship. On the board in 11 of 22 starts, he retires with five wins and earnings of $455,045.
Out of graded stakes winner Blending Element, Texas Ryano is a half-brother to graded stakes winner Tiz Elemental (Cee's Tizzy) and to graded stakes placed Holladay Road (Street Cry {Ire}), War Element (War Chant) and American Blend (Quiet American).
“I found Texas Ryano to be a lovely well-made, very balanced, talented horse who demonstrated the qualities of his sire line and the racing abilities of his half-siblings in top flight company,” said trainer Carla Gaines.
Texas Ryano will stand as the property of a partnership for $3,500.
