Ralph and Aury Tod?s The Tin Man (Affirmed–Lizzie Rolfe, by Tom Rolfe) has been retired from racing after fracturing a knee while recovering from a recent exploratory surgical procedure. “Coming out of anesthesia, he had a difficult time and broke his knee,” trainer Richard Mandella told Daily Racing Form. “He's got a serious fracture in his knee. We're not letting him move around. It's a sad deal. Hopefully, it will work out. It's a serious fracture.”
