Thoroughbred Incentive Program Announces 2016 Performance Award Winners

The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program (TIP), which encourages the retraining of Thoroughbreds into other disciplines upon completion of their careers in racing or breeding, announced the winners from its 2016 performance awards program Monday. The performance awards recognize Thoroughbreds accumulating the most points at all horse shows in each of the award categories and divisions throughout the year. In 2016, performance awards were given in 13 categories broken into 77 divisions.

“We received applications representing 423 Thoroughbreds competing in more than 8,000 classes and divisions during the 2016 award year,” said Kristin Leshney, senior counsel for The Jockey Club and the administrator of T.I.P. “Winners will receive ribbons, prize money and a variety of prizes, including coolers, saddle pads, quarter sheets and jackets.”

Performance awards will be available once again in 2017 and will include shows from Dec. 1, 2016, through Nov. 30, 2017. The deadline for submission is Dec. 20. For the complete list of winners, visit the TJCTIP website.
