Three Awards for Zayats at KY-Bred Awards

Zayat Stables received a trio of awards at Thursday's annual Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders (KTOB) Kentucky-Bred Champions Award Luncheon at Keeneland Racecourse thanks to their homebred Horse of the Year American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile). The 2015 Triple Crown winner was named KY-Bred Horse of the Year and 3-year-old, while his dam Littleprincessemma (Yankee Gentleman) received the coveted Broodmare of the Year honor. The Zayats, who later sold Littleprincessemma, were also presented with the Broodmare of the Year award since they owned her when she produced American Pharoah.

The remaining 2015 KTOB awards were as follows:

Turf Male: Big Blue Kitten (Kitten's Joy)

Breeder: Kenneth L. & Sarah K. Ramsey

Turf Female: Tepin (Bernstein)

Breeder: Machmer Hall

Sprinter: Runhappy (Super Saver)

Breeder: Wayne, Gray & Bryan Lyster

Steeplechase Horse: Demonstrative (Elusive Quality)

Breeder: Gainsborough Farm LLC

Racing Abroad: Air Force Blue (War Front)

Breeder: Stone Farm

Four merit awards were presented to individuals or groups honoring their contributions to the Kentucky Thoroughbred industry:

P.A.B. Widener Trophy for KTOB Breeder of the Year: Darley

Hardboot Breeders' Award pays tribute to “distinctive but

unsung breeders that help make up the backbone of the

industry” Arthur B. Hancock, III

Charles W. Engelhard Award acknowledges a member of

the media for outstanding coverage of the Thoroughbred

industry: Sean and Joe Clancy

William T. Young Humanitarian Award distinguishes a

person or organization in the Thoroughbred industry “who

recognizes and promotes the human endeavor:”

Keeneland Association, Inc.

Rewards were also given to the top Kentucky Thoroughbred Development Fund money earners:

KTDF Sire of the Year: Candy Ride (Arg) (Lane's End Farm)

KTDF Earner of the Year: Shes a True Beauty (Yes It's

True) (SumFun Stable)

KTDF Owner of the Year: Kenneth L. & Sarah K. Ramsey

KTDF Trainer of the Year: Michael Maker

KTDF Breeder of the Year: Winstar Farm, LLC

Recipients of the 2015 KTOB Kentucky-Bred Champion awards were voted on by the full membership of KTA/KTOB while the KTDF category leaders were tabulated using purse money won at Kentucky racetracks in 2015. KTOB merit award recipients were voted on by the KTA/KTOB Board of Directors.
