Three Rules was bet like a good thing in his June 10 debut here and couldn't have been more impressive, cruising in hand by 3 1/2 lengths at even-money over a sloppy track. Off at 6-5 in this stakes try, the dark bay tracked the pace from a close-up third at the rail as second choice Francesco Appeal clicked off a :22.04 quarter-mile. Shuffled one spot back to fourth on the turn, Three Rules was aggressively sent through a narrow opening at the fence by Cornelio Velasquez nearing the top of the lane and burst away strongly from there for a good-looking laugher of a victory. Big longshot Sonido nipped Francesco Appeal late for the place. The winner's dam has a yearling filly by Soldcat and foaled a Fort Larned colt this term. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $81,000.
