D.J. Stable, now in partnership with Gary Barber, went to $1,200,000 at KEESEP last year to secure AMERICATHEGREAT (Curlin), the full-sister to MGSW/GISP 'TDN Rising Star' First Captain. Both are out of Bobby Flay's GSW/MGISP A.P. Indy mare America who RNA'd first for $3.1m at FTKNOV in 2019 and most recently for $1.2m at the same sale in 2023. The mare, herself a half to the dam of GISW Paris Lights (Curlin), has found continued success for her foals in the sales ring with another full-sibling, the now 4-year-old Sedona, bringing $2,000,000 as a yearling at Saratoga in 2022 and First Captain himself selling for $1.5m at Saratoga in 2019. Her 3-year-old Uncle Mo colt also sold to D.J. Stable along with Robert Cotran as a 2-year-old at OBS April last year for $685,000. Now training with Mark Casse, Americathegreat is drawn outside with Jose Ortiz aboard.

Inside of that runner is Shez Twisted (Twirling Candy), a $410,000 OBS March grad earlier this year for Patricias Hope. Out of a multiple stakes-winning first dam, the filly worked a furlong in :9.4 at OBS and now runs for Larry Rivelli with Jared Loveberry aboard for her debut. TJCIS PPS
