SECRET HOUSE (c, 2, Tiznow–Mega Dream, by Medaglia d'Oro), the second-longest shot in a field of Santa Anita maidens at 5-1, outraced the bet-down 4-5 favorite Face of Victory (Run Away and Hide) to get his career off on the right foot. Away a little awkwardly from gate three, Secret House raced comfortably off the flank of the odds-on favorite into and around the turn while always looking to be doing the better work. The blaze-faced dark bay wanted to lay in on the rail-skimming favorite in upper stretch, forcing Mario Gutierrez to call upon all his skills to maintain a straight path, but he finally put away Face of Victory inside the furlong and scampered clear under a hand ride to score by four lengths. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0. O-Head of Plains Partners et al. B-Normandy Farm (KY). T-Doug O'Neill.[bullet ad=”warrendale-sold-congratulations-to-all-the-connections”]
