TIZ A SLAM (c, 2, Tiznow–Flaming Rose, by Grand Slam) ran his record to two-for-two with a good-looking and professional score in this allowance, the traditional prep for the local GII Summer S. to be run Sept. 18. Graduating on debut at this distance on the local Tapeta surface Aug. 1, the big bay added Lasix for this move to turf and was slammed in the late wagering to be a nickel below 3-2 at post. Away well in fourth, Tiz a Slam tracked two to three lengths off a :23.28 quarter-mile. Creeping up under confident handling on the turn, he charged strongly to make the lead at the furlong grounds and drew away to a 2 1/4-length score over favorite Conquest Sure Shot (Scat Daddy). Tiz a Slam's dam is a half to Essential Edge (Storm Cat), victress of the GII Canadian S. over the Etobicoke lawn. Third dam Flame of Tara (Ire) (Artaius) was a MGSW/G1SP turfer in England and Ireland who produced several of group stakes winners, most notably of which were MG1SW Salsabil (Ire) (Sadler's Wells) and G1SW Marju (Ire) (Last Tycoon {Ire}). Flaming Rose most recently produced a Ghostzapper colt this term. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $72,132. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
