Coasted blew away a live-looking field of maidens going two turns on the Saratoga lawn in the Sunday finale to become the card's second 'TDN Rising Star'. Bet hard for her debut when scratched at the gate in a turf sprint at Belmont in June, the bay filly then ran respectably to finish fifth on the dirt there July 2. Made the 11-4 choice in this stretchout, Coasted sat a close-up second to a longshot leader through tepid fractions of :24.57 and :48.98. Moving to tackle that one at the top of the lane, the $210,000 KEESEP buy easy ran away from the frontrunner and never gave anyone else a chance, cruising under the line six lengths to the good.
