TJ Smith Up Next For Exosphere

Exosphere | Racing And Sports

Trainer John O'Shea plans to give Exosphere (Aus) (Lonhro {Aus}) a short break following his close up fourth to Chautauqua (Aus) (Encosta De Lago {Aus}) in last Saturday's G1 Black Caviar Lightning S. at Flemington. O'Shea will target the G1 TJ Smith S. at Randwick April 2 with the Godolphin Group 1 winner and was ruing the tactics employed on Saturday feeling it was the difference between winning and losing. “He jumped left and then he sort of got following Va Pensiero (Aus) (Stratum {Aus}), who was always going to be the early speed and by the time he looked up and realised the chances had gone to the other side and it was game over,” O'Shea told racing.com. “I was very proud of the horse, but I think tactically we come up short. I'd say there was probably a two to four length disparity between the inside and the outside at Flemington on Saturday. I don't think that's unrealistic. We'll bring him home now and run him on tracks where the bias doesn't have a major impact on where we finish,” the trainer concluded.
