TOBA Award Winners Announced

Stonestreet Stables (East Region), Ken and Sarah Ramsey (Midwest Region), Zayat Stables (Southern Region) and Reddam Racing (Western Region) will receive regional Owner of the Year awards at the 31st annual Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association National Awards Dinner to be held Sept. 10 at Stonestreet Farm in Lexington, Ky. The national Owner of the Year will be selected from the four regional winners and announced at the awards dinner. State and Canadian Breeders of the Year were also announced Wednesday, and include Reddam Racing (California), Tall Oaks Farm (Canada), Jacks or Better Farm (Florida), Godolphin (Kentucky) and Eklektikos Stable LLC (New York). TOBA's National Breeder and Small Breeder of the Year will also be announced Sept. 10. Littleprincessemma (Yankee Gentleman), dam of 2015 Triple Crown winner and Horse of the Year American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile), will be honored as Broodmare of the Year. The Robert N. Clay Award will be presented to “a member of the Thoroughbred community who has made an outstanding contribution to preserving land for equine use,” and the Thoroughbred Sport Horse of the Year and Claiming Horse of the Year will also be recognized. “This year's National Award winners are all very deserving recipients who represent the highest levels of excellence from every racing and breeding region across the United States and Canada,” said TOBA president Dan Metzger. “We are honored to recognize each and every one of them on what promises to be a spectacular celebration at Stonestreet Farm.” Tickets for the dinner can be purchased at www.toba.org.
