A daughter of fellow Sam-Son product Strike Softly (Smart Strike), who did her best running when landing the all-weather GIII Hendrie S. and grassy GII Nassau S., the dark bay is a half to GSW Golden Sabre (Medaglia d'Oro). Out of a stakes-placed half-sister to GII Dixie S. winner Hudson Steele (Johannesburg), My Man Sam breezed a half-mile in :48 3/5 (23/108) at Belmont Park Feb. 28. The Todd Pletcher barn fields two in this contentious affair, including Mo Power (Uncle Mo) for Repole Stable. Only a neck shy of graduation when second sprinting in Hallandale Dec. 19, the $60,000 KEESEP yearling turned $235,000 OBSAPR purchase parlayed a step up to a mile at that venue into a one-length score last out Jan. 30. Scratched from Saturday's GIII Gotham S. for this, he is a half-brother to GII Coolmore Lexington S. hero Behindatthebar (Forest Wildcat). Lady Sheila Stable representative Matt King Coal (Cool Coal Man), snapped up for $250,000 also at OBSAPR after bringing $25,000 at OBSAUG as a yearling, makes his sophomore bow on the back of an open-length win in his third start going a mile at Belmont Park Oct. 29, good for a 96 Beyer. Favored at even-money on the morning line, he missed by a nose when completing the exacta behind the highly regarded subsequent GII Remsen S. third-place finisher Gift Box (Twirling Candy) second time out Oct. 3. Let's Go Stable reached deep into their pockets to nab firster BETTER NOT BLINK (Hard Spun) for $850,000 at FTFMAR in 2015, after the Todd Pletcher trainee worked a furlong in :10 1/5. Previously a $175,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling, the dark bay's second dam is a half-sister to champion juvenile male and MGISW Rhythm (Mr. Prospector) and GSW Get Lucky (Mr. Prospector). The latter is the dam of GI Vosburgh S. hero and young sire Girolamo (A.P. Indy), as well as MGSWs Daydreaming (A.P. Indy) and Accelerator (A.P. Indy). This is also the extended family of GI Kentucky Derby hero Super Saver (Maria's Mon). Debutante Kareena (Medaglia d'Oro) hails from the Kiaran McLaughlin barn and will bear the Godolphin blue in her first trip to the post. A $400,000 FTSAUG yearling buy, the bay is a daughter of MGSW India (Hennessy), herself a half-sister to SW Pilfer (Deputy Minister), the dam of MGISW To Honor and Serve (Bernardini), GISW Angela Renee (Bernardini) and SW & GISP Elnaawi (Street Sense). TIGER BLOOD (Cowtown Cat) will set out to prove that his debut romp here at 14-1 odds was no fluke. The $4,500 OBSAUG yearling went to the front and never looked back Jan. 30, scoring by 9 1/4 lengths and earning a 91 Beyer Speed Figure. Lookin for a Kiss (Lookin At Lucky) belied 20-1 odds to earn his diploma first up at Gulfstream Feb. 6 for Dale Romans and Michael Bruder. The $55,000 KEESEP yearling is a grandson of GISW Hookedonthefeelin (Citidancer), who produced MGISW Pussycat Doll (Real Quiet) and GISW Jimmy Creed (Distorted Humor).
